What is sateen?

Sateen is a cotton weave (the "sateen weave") where four yarns float over each one — creating a smooth, silky surface with a soft sheen. It's not satin (which is synthetic). Sateen is 100% cotton with the silk-like feel, the breathability of a natural fiber, and durability that lasts.

Why our sateen feels luxurious

Most brands inflate thread count by twisting cheap, short yarns together. We don't. Our cotton sateen bedding is woven from long-staple organic cotton — longer fibers create fewer joins, a smoother surface, and durability that holds up wash after wash. That's why our sateen feels premium without playing the thread-count game.

Where our sateen is made

Woven in a family-run mill in northern Portugal from long-staple organic cotton. Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certified — every component tested for 100+ harmful substances.

Frequently asked questions about sateen bedding

Is sateen the same as satin?

No. Satin is often synthetic (polyester, silk). Sateen is the same weave structure but made from cotton — breathable, hypoallergenic, washable.

Is sateen bedding too hot for summer?

Sateen is warmer than percale because the closed weave traps more air. For cool bedrooms and winter: ideal. If you sleep hot: percale breathes better.

Do sateen sheets wrinkle?

Less than percale or linen — that's part of why sateen feels luxurious. Some natural wrinkles still appear after washing, but they release with light steam.

Sateen vs linen bedding?

Sateen for silky, structured drape and cooler bedrooms. Linen for textured, breathable, year-round wear.

How do I wash sateen bedding?

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, mild detergent. Tumble dry low. Avoid bleach.
